Sixteenth Annual Summer Institute 2011

8:30-4:30, Monday-Thursday



UPWP Purposes are:

  • to help teachers develop their own writing skills;
  • to improve classroom writing instruction;
  • to provide a forum for collegial sharing, and
  • to develop Teacher Consultantants who will provide leadership in writing instruction to other educators throughout Michigan's Upper Peninsula and beyond.

What is the cost?


Fellowships covering the cost of tuition for 3 of 5 credits earned for the Summer Institute awarded to those applicants selected to attend the UPWP Summer Institute. The fellowship will pay for 1-2 additional credit which Teacher Consutants can earn by enrolling in Saturday Session directed studies during the following academic year. Fellows are expected to provide a laptop computer with wireless capabilities. A laptop may be leased through Olson Library for the summer at a small fee.
